There are some familiar, and not-so familiar, faces set to appear in Solo: A Star Wars Story. We’ve put together a guide for all the characters playing a significant part in the events of the movie.

Unlike Lucasfilm’s first standalone movie, Rogue One, the central cast has some franchise touchstones — though younger than any other incarnation we’ve encountered before. We’re running down all the characters, new and old, you’ll be expecting to see when you feast your eyes on Solo.

Familiar Faces

Han Solo

Han Solo is the central focus of Solo, as you might expect for a character the whole movie is named after. He is perhaps the most familiar face — or name — to viewers, played here in his younger years by Alden Ehrenreich.

The movie will undoubtedly begin to shape Han into the beloved character we know from The Original Trilogy and beyond. From his first meeting with his best-friend and long-time partner, Chewbacca, to winning ownership of the Falcon from Lando, and the truth about the now-infamous Kessel Run, Solo will shine a light on all the moments we’ve only been privy to before now via word-of-mouth.

Chewbacca

Han’s steadfast and loyal friend, Chewbacca, will also make an appearance in Solo. Joonas Suotamo is playing the Wookie, continuing his duties from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. It is likely that we will see his liberation from slavery by Han at some point over the course of the movie, which in-turn leads to Chewie’s owed life-debt, and one of the Star Wars universe’s best and enduring friendships.

Lando Calrissian

The suave original owner of the Falcon, Lando Calrissian is set to return in Solo, this time as portrayed by Donald Glover. Very little is known about Lando in the time before we met him on Cloud City, but we should expect to get a taste of his origins here, including his complicated relationship with Han.

Brief glimpses of Lando in the trailers and clips from the movie suggest that we might leave the theater loving him even more than we did previously.

Oh, and he also has excellent taste in capes.

Newcomers

Qi’ra

Very little is known about Emilia Clarke’s Qi’ra. The only information we’ve been privy to thus far is that she met Han before the events of the movie, as they both grew up on the streets of Corellia. As for their relationship in the intervening years? That is something the movie will look to answer, as well as the reason for them teaming up once again.

Tobias Beckett

Tobias Beckett, as played by Woody Harrelson, is responsible for putting together the rag-tag bunch of criminals central to the heist that will unfold in Solo. He has been set-up as somewhat of a father-figure and mentor to Han, though it will remain to be seen whether or not that influence will be to Han’s benefit, or play into some of Han’s more flawed behavior.

Val

Unlike rumors initially suggested, Thandie Newton’s character is the enigmatic Val, not Sana Starros. Han’s first meeting with Sana comes after the events of Solo, as we discovered in the novel Last Shot. All we know about Val thus far is that she looks really cool and will probably kick your ass.

L3-37

The droid companion of Lando, we got a taste what to expect from Elthree in Last Shot. Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays the part of the opinionated droid, who has very specific thoughts and beliefs on their treatment and rights, which will likely challenge some of the mindsets of the other characters.

Rio Durant

Rio Durant is a four-armed Ardennian pilot, and another member of Beckett’s crew. They’re voiced by Jon Favreau, and that is about all that we know ahead of Solo.

The Villains

Dryden Vos

Dyden Vos, who is played by Paul Bettany, is the primary antagonist of Solo. Heavily scarred and widely feared, Vos is known for being ruthless and surrounding himself with luxury. Beckett and his crew will likely need to tread carefully around Vos, as he doesn’t suffer fools, or failure, lightly.

Enfys Nest

Little is known about Enfys Nest, the masked antagonist seen in one trailer scene facing off against Han, Beckett, and the rest of the crew. We’ll even have to wait through the credits to discover who, exactly, will be playing the roles, as it has been kept tightly under wraps. Whoever is under the mask could prove to be important to future Star Wars stories, with their identity being so heavily guarded.
