Author Rick Riordan tweeted out the link today. Just follow it to download your free copy of Mega-Awesome Adventures, which will allow you to read the opening of Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods right away.

The sneak peek is actually the entire first story in Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods. It begins with Percy introducing himself in his typical witty way, and goes on to the first chapter in the book, titled, “The Beginning and Stuff.”

Fans of any of the Percy Jackson books will not be disappointed if this excerpt is anything by which to judge the rest of the book. Funny and informative, it provides the actual stories found in Greek legend, but presents them in a way that will keep kids and adults alike both entertained and intrigued.

While Riordan’s Greek Gods sample is definitely something to get excited about, the free eBook also contains samples from five other books. The additional authors include Eoin Colfer, Bruce Hale, Ridley Pearson, Neal Shusterman and Eric Elfman, and Jonathan Stroud.

This book and the subsequent excerpts are aimed at nine to 12-year-olds, but as any Percy Jackson fan knows, they can be enjoyed by people of all ages!

Riordan will be quite a busy guy this year. The Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods release date is August 19. Prior to that, however, a short story called “The Staff of Serapis,” which will entail Annabeth Chase meeting Sadie Kane, will release on April 8.

And then, finally, what we’re all waiting for: The Blood of Olympus, the final book in the second Percy Jackson series, The Heroes of Olympus, will be released on October 7.
