NBC has released new Rent-inspired character and full cast posters from the upcoming second season of Smash.

If these new pictures are any sign, season 2 of the NBC Golden Globe-nominated musical drama will have a little less glitz and a little more of a realistic look at the life of a struggling actor on Broadway (as in less cabs and more subway rides?).

Check out two full cast posters and individual character posters for Megan Hilty (Ivy), Debra Messing (Julia), Anjelica Huston (Eileen), Christian Borle (Tom), Leslie Odom Jr. (Sam), Jack Davenport (Derek), Katharine McPhee (Karen), Andy Mientus (Kyle), Krysta Rodriguez (Ana), Jeremy Jordan (Jimmy) and Jennifer Hudson (Veronica).

Smash returns to NBC Feb. 5 with a two-hour season premiere and moves to Tuesday nights. New showrunner Josh Safran has made several tweaks to the show for the new season, including the addition of Jennifer Hudson, Liza Minnelli, Jesse L. Martin, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Nikki Blonsky and Sean Hayes in guest roles. Jeremy Jordan (Newsies), Krysta Rodriguez (The Addams Family) and Andy Mientus will join the cast as regulars while Raza Jaffrey (Dev), Jaime Cepero (Ellis), Brian d’Arcy James (Frank) and Will Chase (Michael Swift) will only return for brief stints, if at all.
