It was announced today that season 1 guest Bernadette Peters will return to NBC’s Smash!
Vulture was the first to report the news and confirm she’s back as Ivy’s mom. When we last saw her on Smash, Mama Rose sounded threatening in telling her she better get the role of Marilyn. Executive producers are currently staying mum on what involvement she’ll have exactly with the new season.
Outside of Smash, Peters has had a storied television career. She’s had roles over the years on Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, Boston Legal, Will & Grace, Ally McBeal, and many others. Next year she’ll voice the character Glinda in the animated film Dorothy of Oz.
In recent weeks we’ve seen a slew of casting announcements including Nikki Blonsky (Hairspray), Jesse L. Martin (Rent), Daniel Sunjata (Grey’s Anatomy) and Sean Hayes (Will & Grace).
