It’s that time of year, Sleepyheads — fall has arrived! That means there’s a nip in the air, pumpkins and dry leaves are everywhere, and somewhere in Sleepy Hollow Ichabod Crane is confused by the pumpkin spice craze.
Not only do we get to celebrate the return of our favorite season, we also get to see Sleepy Hollow return this week for its third season! And with a new showrunner taking the reins we’re ever so curious about what this means for Ichabod and Abbie.
But before we get too excited about what season 3 has to offer us this week, it’s important we remember how we left off season 2 — because we know if you’re anything like us you probably already forgot.
Bye, bye, bye…
One of the more important things to remember is going to be who’s not returning to the show. Katrina and Henry both found themselves on the opposite side from Ichabod and Abbie and ultimately they did not survive the final battle. Henry died the week before the season 2 finale which really put Ichabod and Katrina at odds, and in the end Ichabod was forced to kill his wife. But who knows – we might see Katrina or Henry again this season in the form of flashbacks!
Another character who’s left the show, although not for plot reasons, is Captain Frank Irving. His character was finally redeemed last season ever since Henry died (since he got his soul back) but it looks like despite all that he will not be appearing in season 3. Reasons for Jones’ departure remain unknown but the show has already found a replacement for Captain Irving in terms of who Abbie will be reporting to.
Hey, hey, hey!
While three characters might not be in the new season, we do know there are at least two additional characters that have been added on as series regulars, so you can expect to see them a decent amount throughout Sleepy Hollow season 3.
First, you’ll want to remember Joe Corbin. He was Sheriff Corbin’s son and Abbie and Ichabod helped him get rid of this nasty spell that had him turn into a Wendigo. Being the son of Abbie’s father-figure in life we expect these two to either get along extremely well or resent one another, having had to fight for Corbin’s attention. Corbin is already involved in the supernatural world so we wonder what he’ll bring to the table in terms of skill.
Additionally we’ll see Abbie’s new boss a lot more. Daniel Reynolds (Lance Gross) will play Abbie’s new FBI Boss. Yes, you read that right. There’s going to be a time gap between the time we left season 2 of Sleepy Hollow and season 3 – about a year. In that time Abbie will have gone to Quantico to learn how to become an FBI Agent, so of course she’ll have a new FBI boss. We assume that he’ll not be in the know about the supernatural world but the way things have been going on in the show so far it’s only a matter of time before he is!
