After a long summer wait Sleepy Hollow season 2 is finally here, and it all starts with a trip out of purgatory.

Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills are back in their roles as the two witnesses, and tonight we’ll be seeing each of them get out of the predicaments we saw them in last season and back out into the town of Sleepy Hollow.

The second season of Sleepy Hollow will see our favorite colonial soldier and his modern day partner try to deal with the coming of the second Horseman of the Apocalypse, all while dealing with the fact that he is Ichabod’s son and Katrina is back in the hands of the Headless Horseman. Sound confusing? Don’t worry, we’ve written up a guide to help you remember what happened last season in case you didn’t have time to re-watch!

The synopsis for ‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 2, episode 1 reads:

“Picking up immediately after the spellbinding events of the Season One finale, Ichabod finds himself buried alive in a coffin; Abbie is trapped in purgatory; Ichabod’s wife, Katrina, has been kidnapped by the Headless Horseman; Capt. Frank Irving is behind bars for a murder he did not commit; and Abbie’s sister, Jenny, is among the wreckage of a horrific car crash. These events were due, in large part, to the shocking revelation that Henry Parish, the trusted friend of Ichabod and Abbie, is actually Ichabod and Katrina’s son and the Second Horseman of the Apocalypse. Now, with Henry’s emergence as the Horseman of War, alongside the Headless Horseman, Sleepy Hollow has never been so close to destruction in the all-new “This Is War” Season Premiere episode of Sleepy Hollow
