Sleepy Hollow‘s second episode of the season, “The Kindred,” aired tonight and boy did things get intense! Check out our recap and let us know what you thought of the episode!

American Horror Story: Sleepy Hollow

The Horseman takes Katrina to a circle of fire and Henry says they need to complete the ceremony, to make Katrina the Horseman’s for real, and she must be decapitated. Turns out this was Ichabod’s nightmare, and Abbie says they’re going to find her. Ichabod says he found something in Sheriff Corbin’s files, and there’s a ritual to make Katrina the Horseman’s.

They narrowed down the areas where Katrina can be kept, but Abraham’s family owned a lot of places in Sleepy Hollow but Abbie points out that Ichabod knows him. She then tells Ichabod there’s a new sheriff in town and she must go meet her.

When meeting the new sheriff, Sheriff Reyes, she doesn’t like her very much. However, Reyes doesn’t want fear and hysteria to come to Sleepy Hollow because it’s her home town, and she was there when Abbie got abducted. Maybe things can work well between them!

Ichabod mentions he remembers that Abraham had an estate in Willow Point, so they decide to check it out. On the car ride there, Abbie tells them they need to focus on Moloch’s larger plan and Ichabod says Katrina is a witch and she can help them, and he has not forgotten their duties as witnesses. They get to the estate after dark, and discover Katrina is definitely inside but they want to come back when it’s daylight.

Back at the cabin, they decide they need to figure out a way to get the horseman out of the house. There’s something in one of the files, and it’s about something called the Kindred, a monster made out of the body parts of the deceased. It was one of Benjamin Franklin’s experiments of death, and the Kindred could be one of the things to stop death. Franklin made the body himself for the spell, but they never managed to get the last ingredient: A body part of the Horseman of Death.

Ichabod thinks they can raise this weapon, but Abbie points out they’re not raising a weapon, but a monster.

Not So Nice Sheriff

Back at Moloch’s layer in Purgatory, Henry is visiting him and apologizing for his failure to open the portal. Moloch says he will find his own way, and Henry has to do what he was told to do.

Back at the cabin, Abbie and Ichabod argue about whether or not they should raise the Kindred. Ichabod says there are risks but it’s their best option, and Abbie agrees. Ichabod points out that Franklin preserved the body he already had built, and they each go their ways to get weapons and whatnot for the mission.

At the estate, Katrina sees Horseman as Abraham. Abraham says the Ichabod Crane she knows is a deception, and that he rescued another woman while he left Katrina to rot. He says Moloch has a plan for them all, but she says she won’t go willingly.

Abbie goes to see Irving in prison to see where he kept the head, and he says he put it in a bank behind a six inch vault in a safety deposit box. Abbie says he should go for the insanity plea, since visiting him in the asylum would be easier than visiting him in prison and they want him close.

They get to the bank and get the head while Jenny heads back to their headquarters in the archives with a bunch of weapons. However, Sheriff Reyes shows up in the archives wondering what she’s doing there since it’s the police archives and ends up arresting her for illegal possession of firearms.

Frankenstein: Part Deux

Abbie and Ichabod go to get Jenny out of jail when they confront Reyes. She doesn’t think they need a history consultant like Ichabod and says she’s not going to open up any more files to him.

Back at prison, Irving is going through a lie detector test and answering all the questions honestly, telling them about the demon that possessed his daughter. Reyes is there and ensures he goes to the asylum.

Underground, Ichabod and Abbie go to find the body that Franklin preserved, and while they search Abbie tells him that purgatory really did get to her, and that Moloch got in her head that her faith in Ichabod is her weakness, and she says that Katrina (or Henry) is his. They find a metallic plate on the wall and discover the body that Franklin created, and it’s just as gross as ever.

At the estate, Henry says the plan is in motion and Moloch is coming and they can’t fail. Henry confronts Katrina and says he’s not Jeremy anymore, which makes it easier for us to recap so we’ll totally go with it. Henry knows that they’re coming to save Katrina, but the question is: Who will save them?

He’s Alive!

Ichabod and Abbie are setting up the body, and getting the head onto the body; Ichabod mentions that all they have to do is recite the incantation because the body is already spelled, and so they start saying it while Abraham gets ready to attack. Elsewhere in the estate, Henry is working on some sort of pen tool, that is likely way more than just a pen, and his suit of armor gets ready for battle behind him.

The spell doesn’t work the first time, so Ichabod tries again. And to distract Abraham, Katrina says she always wanted Abraham and not Ichabod, but she wants to accept Abraham on her own free will and to not kill Ichabod, and Abraham looks like he agrees but it was pretty committal.

Just as Abraham gets to Ichabod and Abbie, they manage to wake the Kindred.

She Won’t Go

As the Horseman is fighting the Kindred, Ichabod runs to save Katrina but she wants him to leave without her. She convinced him to delay the ritual until she is his by her own free will, and she knows they’re plotting a new way for Moloch to arise. She also knows there’s a greater plan that involved all of them, and if she stays she will learn it. Katrina still believes Henry is their son and they must attempt to save him from the evil that has consumed him, but Ichabod wants to save Katrina. He kisses her, but agrees to her plan and Abbie is pissed they came all that way for nothing.

Back on the field, the Kindred is fighting both the Horseman of War and the Horseman of Death while Abbie tries to shoot ’em with a gigantic gun. The Horseman of War is after Abbie now, but the Kindred leaves his spot to go save her.

Blood Contract

At the estate, Katrina makes it clear she won’t flee from Abraham, trying to convince him she will be his.

During sun rise, there’s no sign of the Kindred and Ichabod and Abbie are a little worried. Maybe it’s gone away, miraculously, but Ichabod agrees now that the way to fight monsters is to not create them.

Abbie gets to the jail to visit Jenny and says they have to play this one by the book because they can’t be fighting a war on two fronts, and she appreciates Jenny taking one for the team. Reyes visits Irving at the prison, and he says that the end is near. But then Henry shows up and says that he’s Irving’s lawyer, and gets Reyes to leave. Irving doesn’t know about Henry, and Henry gets Irving to sign a contract in blood without Irving being knowledgable about what he’s really signing.
