Sleepy Hollow season 2, episode 10, “Magnus Opus,” aired last night and no, that was not Medusa – not technically.

That Ain’t Medusa

Ichabod and Abbie are playing an iPhone game to open up their minds when Katrina comes up on one of their mirrors to talk to them. She explains that Moloch is still alive, and he’s growing so fast that he’s going to be fully grown in two days. Ichabod tries to tell her about the weapon, but she leaves before he can. Henry then uses the same mirror Katrina did to get the connection back so he can eavesdrop on Ichabod and Abbie and overhears them trying to figure out where the weapon is, a weapon called Enoch’s Sword.

They find a drawing of the Join or Die cartoon drawn by Ben Franklin and it lines up perfectly with a map of Sleepy Hollow, with the tongue being the location of where the sword could be. Of course Henry hears all this and tells Abraham to stop Ichabod and Abbie before daylight hits. Katrina tries to stop him, but to no avail.

They get to the location where the sword is supposed to be and it’s the same place Abbie was in her dream last week when she saw her mom. Headless shows up, also looking for the sword but unluckily for him the sun comes up in the middle of his hunt and he has to go back. Before he does he steals the next clue, but not before Abbie got a look at it, so they manage to get to the next location: Underneath where they’re standing.

They find a hidden staircase under some bricks and it leads to a cave filled with stone statues of warriors, who look like they’ve been frozen in place. And then Ichabod realizes what’s happening and they leave before the monster inside could attack them. What was that beast? A Gorgon, a beast that turns its victims to stone if they look at their eyes. Abbie and Ichabod can’t look at the thing without dying, so Abbie comes up with a plan to try and get Abraham to face the beast and kill it.

They wait for the Horseman to show up, and when he does they trick him into the cave and get him to fight the gorgon while they decide to run past it. They get into another room filled with swords, and they have to figure out which one is the real one.

Ichabod goes to deal with the Gorgon and Headless when Headless cuts off the head of the Gorgon and suddenly, because the sword forces people to be their true selves, Ichabod sees Headless as Abraham. They decide to have a final sword fight to see who wins, and they get into an argument about how Ichabod stole Katrina and how Abraham chose to side with Moloch, yadda yadda, like teenage boys do. Then Abraham decides to cheat and pulls out his gun, which gets Ichabod to run away back into the room with the swords.

Abbie picks the wrong sword and they all turned into snakes, and now there are no more swords left – just snakes. Abraham gets there and is about to kill them when they hear a horn call (from Henry) that calls Abraham back to Moloch’s side. Abraham leaves and Ichabod then realizes that the pot of water in the middle of the room is really a pot of oil. They then both put their torches into it and it ignites, which reveals the hilt of a sword that Ichabod pulls out. They won! They have the sword!

Irving Out

Jenny is trying to get Irving out of town without getting caught. There are checkpoints all over town looking for Irving, so he gets out of the car to meet her on the other side of the checkpoint. However Irving doesn’t want to hide, he decides to stay underground and fight.

Uh-Oh

The episode ends with Henry finally raising Moloch, along with the two horsemen around a circle of fire, preparing to sacrifice Katrina.
