The Sleepy Hollow fandom is rife with disdain for Katrina Crane, and it’s up to those of us that still like her to defend her honor.

In the most recent episode of Sleepy Hollow, seeds were planted that could put Katrina Crane on the opposite side of the battle between good and evil. The majority of the fandom, who severely dislike Katrina, are all for this idea if it means the exit of Ichabod’s wife. However, there are some of us (though highly outnumbered) who think Katrina would be better off in the hands of Ichabod and Abbie.

We don’t completely hate the idea of Katrina exploring her dark side, since it means she’ll be able to grow as a character, but we’re definitely not interested in the concept of Katrina joining Henry in hopes of bringing the apocalypse and never coming back to the good side. Exploration means she’ll finally figure out who she is and maybe get strong enough to defeat Henry, Moloch, and whatever dark entity comes their way — it doesn’t necessarily mean she has to stay evil forever.

She’s the best supernatural ammo

Katrina Crane is the only witch Ichabod and Abbie have on their side, and we’re completely disinterested in the series adding a new witch to replace her. Let’s be real, without a witch on their side, Ichabod and Abbie won’t have the supernatural ammo they need in order to defeat the demons, legends and creatures that come their way. Sure, they have Hawley and Jenny and supernatural artifacts, but those things don’t compare to having an actual witch on your side.

We can see this dark side plot working well for Katrina. We imagine it’ll lead her down a dark path. It’ll split her and Ichabod up while she goes to explore this new world she doesn’t know, but in the end we see her coming back stronger than ever. That Katrina Crane would be a far more powerful weapon against evil than an Abbie Mills still learning her old family craft, which is a plot we definitely see brewing.

Let’s not waste a reunited love

We spent so much of season 1 wanting Ichabod and Katrina together that many of us still want them together. It’s the ship we’ve been on since the beginning, despite several occasions where we boarded the Ichabbie ship. Two people lost in time and in a war to stop the apocalypse are perfect together!

The writers could do such interesting things with Ichabod and Katrina’s relationship; things that Katrina-haters haven’t taken too much time to think about. Yes, they’re on different pages right now, but they’re both still a part of the same amazing story. What better way to shake things up than slow burn their marriage?

And by slow burn their marriage we mean take a season (or two or three) to really get Ichabod and Katrina to fall in love with each other again. We’re all for them doing their own thing, but we love Katrina and we want her and Ichabod to be happy together, so we’d be willing to sit by the sidelines while Katrina takes the time she needs to grow into a better person.

That’s the biggest argument that Katrina-haters have: As a person, she’s not smart, kind, or interesting enough for Ichabod Crane. They hate how she let Abraham go and has this weakness for him, and hate that she’s not developed enough to bring an interesting romance with Ichabod to the screen.

The writers know how fans feel about Katrina, and we’re hoping that instead of listening to their pleas for her death, they listen to those of us offering more interesting plots to the story. They need to take this opportunity to help her grow into the character we know she can be, instead of listening to those unhappy with her current development.

We have complete faith that Katia Winter can bring the depth and intrigue that Katrina Crane needs, and we believe the writers should take this opportunity to make her stronger and better, rather than kill her off.

How do you feel about Katrina Crane staying alive and well on ‘Sleepy Hollow’?

We know this is a hot topic in the fandom, and several people are passionate about getting rid of the local Sleepy Hollow witch, but let us know if you have different ideas to make her character better!
