If you loved Skylar Astin’s voice on Pitch Perfect, you’ll be happy to know that he’s now lending his vocals to Glee, according to Darren Criss!

In an Instagram photo posted earlier today, Darren Criss all but confirmed that Skylar Astin has joined the cast of Glee. Check out the photo below, which included the caption, “Me, @ChordOverstreet & @SkylarAstin… And a#DramaticSelfie for you all. So glad to have our buddy Skylar on #Glee!”

Die hard fans may also realize that Astin played the character Georg in the Broadway Spring Awakening cast, which included Lea Michele, Jenna Ushkowitz and Jonathan Groff. Astin is also well-known for his brief role on the HBO series Girls as well as the current TBS series Ground Floor.

There are no other details about Skylar Astin’s role on Glee or how many episodes in which he will appear. However, with Darren Criss’ Instagram post, surely an official announcement from Glee will be coming soon. Will he be a schoolmate of Rachel and Kurt’s at NYADA? If he’s in scenes with Chord and Darren, does that mean he’ll be in the McKinley plot? Only time will tell.

Lea Michele has long been vocal about wanting to have Skylar Astin on Glee, telling the Hollywood Reporter that she wanted him to play the role of Brody: “I wanted them to see him for Brody and for so many characters along the way but he just has to stop being a movie star and doing so many movies! I’m his biggest fan, he’s one of my best friends, and I couldn’t be happier for him and his success. He’s amazing in Pitch Perfect. The minute I can get him on Glee, I want him on the show.”

Pitch Perfect a.k.a. Glee, The Movie, was a box office and critical hit in 2012, becoming the second-highest grossing musical comedy behind School of Rock.

Are you excited to see and hear what Skylar Astin has to offer when Glee returns in 2014?
