A first look at Ben Whishaw as Q in Skyfall has been released.

Whishaw is far and away the youngest character to play Q, as Desmond Llewelyn, the last actor to play Q in The World is Not Enough, was 89 years young. Here’s an image of the young Q with Bond (Daniel Craig), via EW:

Thanks to Rope Of Silicon for pointing out this humorous quote from Robert Pattinson, who had this to say about potentially playing James Bond…20 years from now. That would certainly match up age wise with Whishaw. Here’s the quote, from an interview with Short List:

“Yeah, definitely, but more like 20 years [from now],” he said. “There’d be nothing worse than, like, ‘Let’s get a fresh-faced Bond!’ That would be the worst idea in the world. After Daniel Craig, you have to have some baggage. It would be ridiculous to reinvent it as some young posh kid. Or, if it was, I’d have to be tortured in the first few scenes. I’d have to do the first film with one arm or something.” At least he knows he’s not ready.”

What do you think? Is Whishaw suitable as the new Q, or would you prefer someone a bit older?
