Six new amazing featurettes have been released for X-Men: Days of Future Past which follow director Bryan Singer around the film’s set with appearances from Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Hoult and Ellen Page.

In some of the best behind-the-scenes looks we’ve seen, new featurettes reveal some exciting plot details as well as an incredible look at what goes on behind-the-scenes of director Bryan Singer’s films.

Don’t worry, there’s not a lot of film footage to be spoiled by, it’s mostly Singer taking us on an extended look of what goes on during the filming of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Watch the six new featurettes below thanks to Movies Coming Soon:

A couple of these new featurettes reveal the reason why Wolverine is able to go back into the past instead of Kitty, and it’s quite interesting that Wolverine can go back due to his healing abilities. While we thought Ellen Page’s character was getting pushed to the side, it actually looks as though she will be a vital part of the story.

Either way, this film is shaping up nicely and the details that can be seen on some of the sets featured in the videos are just incredible. We know now why X-Men: Days of Future Past is the second-most expensive film ever produced by 20th Century Fox, behind only Avatar.

The inbetweenquel (as Singer put it) cost a reported $225 million to shoot, not accounting for the film’s advertising budget. While this could be seen as a massive gamble, the film has possibly one of the most talented casts seen in quite some time. We look forward to seeing how the film turns out and if it’s able to obtain the box office numbers close to other ensemble films such as The Avengers.

Fox has also released two new X-Men: Days of Future Past posters which feature Wolverine with Mystique and both past and present versions of Magneto. Check out the HD posters below:

X-Men: Days of Future Past won’t hit theaters until May, but Singer is already discussing the next film in the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse, which will focus on mutant origins. He discussed the fact that he’s co-writing the film as well as producing.

X-Men: Days of Future Past’s release date is set for May 23, 2014. The film stars returning actors Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender. Also rejoining the X-Men franchise are Halle Berry, Shawn Ashmore, James Marsden, Ellen Page, and Hugh Jackman. Fan-favorite Peter Dinklage will be playing the film’s villain.
