Warner Bros. and New Line have officially acquired the rights to Singles Day, an upcoming romantic comedy set in China.

It looks like Crazy Rich Asians is already having a pretty big effect on Hollywood.

Hot on the heels of the film’s box office success in which they raked in $34 million in the first week, Warner Bros. and New Line have announced that they’ve officially picked up a spec scrip from Powerless writer Lillian Yu.

The spec is called Singles Day and according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is an “Asian-themed romantic comedy” that centers on Singles Day in China. The annual event, which falls on November 11 each year, marks a day in which young people in the country take pride in the fact that they’re single.

Similar to films like Love Actually, Valentine’s Day, and New Year’s Eve, the film will center on an ensemble cast as it shifts focus on multiple storylines that happen to take place on Singles Day in China.

Joining Yu behind the scenes is Chris Bender (We’re The Millers, Horrible Bosses 2), who will serve as producer on the project alongside his fellow Good Fear Films producing partner Jake Weiner.

There’s no word yet on who the studio will tap to helm the project, or when we can expect Singles Day to hit theaters.
