Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles will be heading to Greendale on April 11 as part of Community’s puppet episode.

Bareilles’ guest appearance was first reported by TVLine. There are no further details about the nature of her appearance, but she will not be portraying herself.

Bareilles, of course, is probably best known by her 2007 hit “Love Song,” which has just inserted itself into your head and won’t be coming out for a while.

Her music also has a bit of history with Community. Her other 2007 hit, “Gravity,” was used in a widely viewed Jeff/Annie shipping YouTube video.

The video was so popular that it caught the attention of Dan Harmon and the rest of the Community writing staff who used the song as part of a montage of awkwardly romantic Jeff and Annie moments during during the season 2 “clip show” episode “Paradigms of Human Memory.” It will be interesting to see if the show has any kind of callback to that moment planned, especially considering Bareilles won’t be playing herself.

Jason Alexander was also announced to be appearing in the April 11 episode and we now know that he will be playing a “mountain man” the group will meet. How that fits into the context of a puppet episode remains to be seen, but if any show can make that sentence make any semblance of sense, it’s Community.
