Sin City‘s sequel, A Dame to Kill For, which has gained actors such as Josh Brolin and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, has now had its release date pushed back to August 22, 2014.

The original release date for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was set for October 4, 2013. This is a major drop back, and with no reasonings, one would have to assume it’s so the cast and crew can do some additional shooting.

Filming for the sequel has been in progress for months now at director Robert Rodriguez’s film studio in Texas, and there have been many reports that some of the cast have already finished filming all their scenes.

Due to the use of green-screen in the film, actors have been able to jump in when time permits and get their parts done. Obviously, this is a bit different than normal shooting, but the first Sin City went on to become somewhat of new category of film in itself, and we don’t expect anything less for the sequel.

Eva Green was one of the last cast members to join as the Dame (Ava Lord) in director Robert Rodriguez’s popular sequel. It’s also been confirmed that Joseph Gordon-Levitt won’t be involved in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and that Sin City’s sequel has already begun shooting.

In addition to Sin City 2, Gordon-Levitt is also seriously involved in his latest pet-project: Don Jon – which we saw the first clip of yesterday. Taking this into account, it’s pretty clear why he turned down Guardians of the Galaxy, which will most likely turn to other rumored actors for the role, such as Joel Edgerton, Lee Pace, Jim Sturgess, or Eddie Redmayne.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For has a seriously star-studded cast that includes many newcomers and stars from the original including, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Clive Owen, Josh Brolin, Mickey Rourke, Christopher Meloni, Jamie Chung, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Roasrio Dawson, and Juno Temple. We look forward to seeing the Sin City sequel when it hits theaters August 22, 2014.
