Simon Pegg has revealed that he has no interest in returning to Doctor Who following his guest appearance in the 2005 episode The Long Game.
The Sean of the Dead star told his followers on Twitter that he would turn down a lead role in the Doctor Who movie if asked and declared that Matt Smith was the best man for the job.
He posted, “Why is everyone speculating about who should play the Doctor in the Doctor Who movie? Matt Smith is the Doctor, he should f**king play him!!”
Pegg, who recently appeared in The Adventures of Tintin, went on to say, “It’s nice to be thought of but I do not want the part and would not accept if it were offered to me. I did my Who time and I died. The end.”
Last year Matt Smith told the Daily Star that he would be eager to play the Doctor in a movie version of the hit BBC Drama saying, “I’d definitely be up for staying on if they did a film – hell yeah.”
At the time Smith claimed that Johnny Depp might make a good Doctor adding, “There’s no doubt he’d be a good Doctor. But I don’t want to talk myself out of a job. I would want to be first choice!”
