The book to film adaptation of Becky Albertalli’s Simon and the Sapiens Agenda has done a bit of re-branding as we approach its 2018 release.

As confirmed by the author this afternoon, the new title for the movie is simply Love, Simon — a reference to the e-mails in the story as well as the romantic aspect.

“Introducing LOVE, SIMON! Same perfect movie, mega cute new title,” Albertalli wrote on Twitter. See her Instagram post with a screenshot of the IMDb page below:

Followers of the author on Instagram appeared to strongly approve of the adaptation’s title. It’s a bit of a risky move considering that part of the movie’s success will ride on book readers recognizing the movie, but we’re sure Fox will give the public lots of reminders so none of the existing fans miss it.

Love, Simon is a Hollywood-friendly title. “Homo Sapiens” isn’t exactly the most glamorous word to have in a movie title, and we agree with Becky — the new title is cute.

The movie stars Nick Robinson (Jurassic World) as Simon and co-stars Josh Duhamel and Jennifer Garner as his parents. It’s directed by CW / DC mastermind Greg Berlanti and is scheduled to hit theaters March 16, 2018.

If you haven’t read the book already, we highly recommend you get on that:
