Lionsgate is reportedly starting to court a screenplay writer for Catching Fire, the anticipated first sequel to The Hunger Games.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Simon Beaufoy – known for his work on Slumdog Millionaire – is the screenwriter the studio has in mind for the project.

The source also reports that director Gary Ross, who helmed The Hunger Games, will be returning for the sequel as well.

Here are a few further details from Deadline:

[Ross] originally intended to write the outline for the second film and script it with author Suzanne Collins (they teamed to do a lot of writing on the first film), but the post production schedule on The Hunger Games has made that difficult. The film opens March 23. There is no start date on the sequel, but it is high priority.

Lionsgate has not confirmed this information at this time, but we’ll update once they’ve done so!
