EA announced this afternoon that SimCity for Mac’s release date has been delayed because it’s “not ready for primetime yet.”

SimCity for Mac’s release date is now being moved to August 2013. A specific day was not given. “We have made this tough decision because we do not believe it is ready for primetime yet,” they said on their official blog today. “We want to ensure the Mac is a great experience for our players and that is why we are taking more time.”

To help qwell the disappointment, EA is promising that everyone who has purchased SimCity for Mac will receiving the SimCity Launch Park, “an exclusive new park just for our dedicated fans who were early adopters,” released in Update 4.

The announcement was the latest in a string of disappointments out of EA in recent months regarding SimCity. When the city simulation game launched earlier this year on Windows, SimCity’s servers were overwhelmed and couldn’t keep up with demand. Many believe that the server crunch was caused by EA’s decision to make the game constantly require an internet connection.

In the same blog post, producers said they are preparing to release SimCity Update 5 which includes a slew of bug fixes and improvements. They also promised that Update 6 is already in development.

Being Mac users ourselves, we’re disappointed by EA having to delay SimCity for Mac’s release date.
