No, Carrie’s off-the-wall actions last night did not set up the beginning of the end for Homeland.

Showtime announced on Monday afternoon that the CIA drama has been renewed for season 5 which will air in 2015. In addition, the pay cabler announced that their freshman drama The Affair has been renewed for a second season (also returning next year).

Last night’s episode of Homeland was one of the best in recent memory, and reminded us that this show has an interesting life beyond Brody (even if he makes the occasional appearance through Carrie’s meth trips).

Fans of The Affair will surely welcome a second season thanks to its compelling storyline. While reviews for the new drama starring Dominic West and Ruth Wilson have been stellar, the ratings have been struggling to grow. Last week’s episode scored 692,000 viewers which, luckily, is its most-watched episode to date.
