Actors Shia LaBeouf and Lucas Hedges are teaming up for a brand new drama called Honey Boy, based on LaBeouf’s relationship with his own father.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pair will play a father and son duo in the upcoming film from Stay Golden Features which is set to be directed by Alma Har’el.

The autobiographical film is being written by LaBeouf himself, which he based on the relationship that he and his father shared.

Honey Boy tells the story of a child actor named Otis Lort (Lucas Hedges) and his father James (Shia LaBeouf). Otis’ father is described as a “law-breaking, alcohol-abusing” man and the film documents their attempt at trying to mend their relationship over the course of 10 years’ time.

There’s no word yet on when the film will debut in theaters. That being said, fans of LaBeouf and Hedges won’t have to wait long before they see them in other projects on the big screen.

Both LaBeouf and Hedges have a few projects coming down the pipeline over the course of the next few months.

Up next, LaBeouf will star as tennis legend John McEnroe in this April’s Borg vs. McEnroe.

Meanwhile Hedges, who’s coming off of the success of Greta Gerwig’s beloved Lady Bird, will soon be starring opposite heavy hitters Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe in Boy Erased..
