Sherlock star Rupert Graves (who plays DI Lestrade) is set to guest star in Doctor Who‘s next series. In a new interview, the actor reveals more details about his character!

While having a friendly chat with Rupert Graves Online, the actor revealed that his character is called Riddell – as well as a little bit about his role in the second episode.

“Yeah, he’s umm… he’s a, he’s a big game hunter … he’s in Africa, and there’s umm, some kind of history behind him and the doctor, although it’s never fully explained what … he’s there to help the doctor.”

Graves was also asked if he would ever consider playing The Doctor, but he denied any interest saying, “once you get attached to one character in such a way, you never get any bloody peace then.”

Unfortunately for Sherlock fans, DI Lestrade didn’t have much to add on the new series. He only joked about the possibility of a third series without the titular character, chuckling as he wondered whether or not the show would just be called “Watson.”
