A new trailer for the upcoming Sherlock special brings us back to the 19th century.
As previously reported, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman’s new Sherlock special is a one-off story taking place many moons ago outside of the show’s canon. This is a dark, action-packed preview set in Victorian London — it feels like a movie trailer!

Sadly we still don’t have a release date for the Sherlock special, but we’re expecting it to air sometime around Christmas. Steven Moffat also announced at Comic-Con that they intend to debut the special episode in select movie theaters.
… Now we see why this new trailer feels like it’s for a movie.
