A screening of Sherlock series 3’s premiere episode will take place at the National Film Theatre and is being billed as the series’ first public showing.

The British Film Institute is organizing the event which will include appearances from Sherlock series 3 guest stars. Tickets go on sale November 12 at 11:30 GMT. BFI Members will be able to purchase tickets starting November 6.

Sherlock series 3, episode one’s synopsis was also shared for the first time and sets the scene. “Two years after the devastating events of ‘The Reichenbach Fall’, John appears to have got on with his life,” it reads. “New horizons and romance beckon. But, with London under threat of a devastating terrorist attack, Sherlock is about to take John at his word, staging his resurrection with all the theatricality that comes so naturally to him. If Sherlock thinks everything will be just as he left it, though, he’s in for a very big surprise.”

Yesterday BBC One debuted the first episodic still from Sherlock series 3, episode 1. In it, Sherlock looks in on Watson who’s dining at a cafe. Based on this synopsis, the scene must be taking place at least two years after Sherlock’s fall when he plans to reveal to Watson that he’s still alive.

Since the premiere is happening at this event in mid December, that means that we won’t be seeing Sherlock series 3 begin airing on U.K. television within the next month. All we know so far is that it will premiere January 19 on PBS in the United States. There’s still a good chance it’ll start before PBS does in the United Kingdom.
