Last night PBS premiered Sherlock season 3, episode 3, “His Last Vow,” in the United States, and you can watch online for free starting today.

The Sherlock season 3 finale put the lead detective up against who he considered one of his most puzzling opponents yet. The synopsis for episode 3 reads: “Sherlock Holmes encounters Charles Augustus Magnussen, the one man he truly hates, through a case of stolen letters. How will he tackle an enemy who specialises in blackmail and knows the personal weakness of every eminent person in the Western world?”

PBS allows viewers in North America to watch Sherlock online in case you miss when it airs on television. Last night was the country’s big Super Bowl (football) game which millions of people tune into annually. For this reason, many may have prioritized the game over our favorite detective.

This is the final episode of Sherlock season 3. The next season does not have a filming or air date, but there are rumors that indicate Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are aiming to shoot the show, starring Benedict Cumerbatch and Martin Freeman, sometime this year for a late-2014 debut.

The good news is that this finale didn’t leave us on a cliffhanger as big as the second season’s, so the wait until the next episode doesn’t feel as painful.
