PBS has announced that Sherlock series 3 will host a panel at San Diego Comic-Con in two weeks with the show’s creators.

Creator and writer Steven Moffat and producers Mark Gatiss and Sue Vertue will be on a panel hosted by Entertainment Weekly writer James Hibberd. Sadly, stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman will not be on the panel.

In making their announcement, PBS is promising “surprises.” We hope this means we’ll get a first look at footage from Sherlock series 3, an official premiere date, and/or a video greeting from Cumberbatch and Freeman.

Sherlock series 3 has shot two episodes of its 3-ep run. The third episode will begin shooting soon. Earlier this week we learned who will direct the finale.

Hypable will be attending San Diego Comic-Con 2013 and hopes to offer coverage from the Sherlock panel. This will be the first time Sherlock attends the con, and the first time for PBS to ever bring one of its properties. Perhaps this is good news for a shot at Downton Abbey having a presence either this year or next?

Thanks, EW.
