All four of the immensely popular British shows received nominations for the British Academy Television Craft Awards. Best of all, they’ve all been nominated in different categories – so you don’t have to choose your favourite!

Sherlock and Downton Abbey each received three nominations, while Misfits and Doctor Who picked up one each.

Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat picked up a Best Writer nomination for ‘A Scandal in Belgravia,’ with the episode also being recognised for Best Sound and Best Editing: Fiction. Doctor Who meanwhile was fittingly nominated for its Visual Effects. Downton Abbey has been recognised for Costume Design, Original Music, and Production Design. Finally, Misfits is nominated in the Digital Creativity category.

The Special Award will this year go to Aidan Farrell – a name you have probably never heard of. However, Farrell has worked as colourist on a wealth of television shows throughout his career. Most recently he worked on series 2 of Downton Abbey, giving the show its gorgeous colour palette and subtly adding to the mood and atmosphere throughout the production.

If you’re wondering why none of these fandoms received any nominations for Acting or Best Series, don’t panic! Those awards are part of a different ceremony, of which the nominations are announced on April 24, and we will be sure to let you know if any of the above are recognised.

You can take a look at the list here, the winners will be announced on May 13.

Do you think your fandom will win its award?
