Sherlock fans, rejoice! With just over a week to go until season 3 premieres, the BBC has released minisode “Many Happy Returns”

Christmas really has come early for Sherlock fans. It’s been 709 days since Benedict Cumberbatch’s super sleuth and his sidekick John Watson (played by Martin Freeman) since we’ve last seen them, but we finally have some new material in the shape of “Many Happy Returns” – check it out below!

The synopsis for the episode reads, “A series of seemingly unconnected crimes stretching from Tibet to India to Germany. Sherlock Holmes has been gone for two years. But someone isn’t quite convinced that he’s dead…”

If the Sherlock minisode left you wanting more, then you’re in luck, as Sherlock season 3 will be broadcast in the U.K. on BBC One on New Year’s Day. Season 3, episode 1 is titled “The Empty Hearse” and will follow Holmes as he reveals to his friends and family that he survived “The Reichenbach Fall” – and more importantly how!

We’ll also see him enter two new adventures in “The Sign of Three” and “His Last Vow.” This series, we’ll see John fall in love with new character Mary Morstan, and Sherlock face off with a deadly new enemy – Charles Augustus Magnussen.
