This season Shadowhunters has been building to a fight with Valentine and it looks like Jace is personally seeking him out in the season finale.
Shadowhunters is bringing the drama this week as betrayal, anger, and complicated relationships take center stage in the season finale.
Hodge Starkweather, you have messed with the wrong werewolf! Taking Jocelyn and the Mortal Cup to give to Valentine will make you no friends. Adding to this huge mistake, you betrayed Luke who has an entire wolf pack at his disposal. This Hodge has made similar choices to book Hodge so here’s to hoping he meets the same end. I do worry for Clary who only just got her mother back and found out her ‘boyfriend” is actually her long thought dead brother. She is not having a good year and at some point she might break. A girl can only take so much!
When speaking with TVLine, Dominic Sherwood had this to say about the episode, “Oh, you’re getting your cliffhanger. I almost feel bad because you’re going to have to wait a decent while for Season 2. I was almost in tears when I read the script. I’m excited for people to be on the edges of their seats.”
Seriously! What would have happened if there wasn’t a second season?? Moving on, because luckily there is a season 2.
Then we come to the real drama of this episode, Jace. Since finding out the that Valentine is his father and Clary is his sister, Jace has taken a turn. With nothing but a few subtly placed ideas Valentine has broken him. Jace believes he is just as bad as Valentine because he raised him. The struggle is real as Jace tries to come to terms with who he is and what he can’t have, namely Clary.
If I had to make a prediction about season 2 I think it would be about Jace. I think he will go with Valentine and stay with him for awhile. Given the material they have to work with from the books this story line is definitely possible. It would diverge from the story told but make things more interesting and give Jace more depth and conflict.
Of course I also have questions about what will happen in this episode.
- What will happen with Alec and Magnus now that everyone knows the truth?
- Is Lydia alive? I kind of really want her to be. I think they may set up a little Lydia/Jace rebound action.
- The promo also hints at Jace following in Valnetine’s footsteps when dealing with Hodge. So will Jace become the big bad of season 2?
- Will they finally wake up Jocelyn?
- Will Simon make a move on Clary now that Jace is a relative?
- What will happen with Hodge because the preview does not look good for him?
