The third book in the Doon series by Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon, Shades of Doon, is available now, and it promises to be one hell of a ride.

At the end of book 2, Veronica collapsed on the steps of her castle without warning or reason. Now recovering, Vee still doesn’t have any answers. But life must go on, especially when you’re the queen of an enchanted kingdom.

But Vee’s strange dizzy spells are the least of her worries. Doon is in trouble again, and the evil witch is doing her best to make it inside the kingdom and court. Someone will betray the princes and the loves of their lives. But who?

Worst yet, Veronica and Mackenna are ripped away from Doon and into their old lives. While it sure is nice to finally get their hands on some nail polish remover, it brings back some former enemies.

‘Shades of Doon’ book review

Doon being in mortal peril is nothing new, but Queen Veronica finding herself back in her rundown house, dealing with Bob the Slob, and running into her ex-boyfriend’s catty girlfriend is something she hasn’t had to deal with in quite a while.

More than any of the others, this book is about separation. Mackenna has had to deal with finding herself in a world without her favorite conveniences, but when the modern world is thrust at her once again, she can’t help but remember how much she misses it.

Though the inhabitants of Doon are beginning to fall into routine, something terrible is brewing. Vee, Ken, Jaime, and Duncan are at their strongest when they’re together — but what happens if they constantly find themselves reaching out, only to find each other slipping away?

Shades is filled with bitter betrayal and tested loyalties. Vee is doing her best to be the queen her people need, but she still struggles with the weight of responsibility on her shoulders. She’ll need to make some tough decisions, and she will have to live with the consequences.

If you thought the ending of Destined for Doon was anxiety-inducing, you haven’t seen anything yet.
