The Harry Potter fan film Severus Snape and the Marauders has been released on YouTube, and it doesn’t disappoint.

Harry Potter fans have been eager to see more stories from the Marauder era of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World, and while the author has shied away from telling tales during that period, luckily the fans have grasped at the opportunity.

As its title implies, Severus Snape and the Marauders is a fan made movie looking at the relationship between Severus, James, Peter, Sirius, and Remus. The story focuses on James and Severus’ bad relationship with one another (thanks, Lily!) as the war looms ahead.

As soon as you start watching the movie you’ll be delighted by the Marauders. James is confident and clearly the leader, Peter is a mess, and Remus is worried about his life as a werewolf.

Although the movie starts on a joyous note — the boys are celebrating the end of their time at Hogwarts — things get serious when Lupin warns about an imminent war, and James suggests they send Snape a warning message so he doesn’t mess with them come battle time. And the cliffhanger? As delicious as you could hope.

A great story, great acting, and magical special effects. We’re all about this. Also, poor Snape! Gosh, those Marauders were jerks.

The film’s synopsis: Set in 1978 just after Harry Potter’s father James graduates from Hogwarts, he and his friends Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew celebrate at a bar, contemplating their place in a war they are to soon become a part of. When Severus Snape enters the same bar, knowing the part he might play in the war, James Potter decides to do something about Snape once and for all.
