Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are producing an adaptation of the graphic novel Preacher for AMC, and have just landed Dominic Cooper as their lead actor.

Comic book series Preacher by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon is being adapted for television.

Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg are taking on this project for AMC, and have been slowly assembling a great cast for their pilot.

British actor Dominic Cooper has officially signed on to play lead character Jesse Custer, the Texan preacher who merges with a heavenly creature named Genesis, and gains the ability to make people succumb to his will.

Cooper is joined by former Misfits actor Joseph Gilgun, who’ll play Jesse’s vampire friend Proinsias Cassidy, and Ruth Negga, whose character Tulip O’Hare just happens to be Jesse’s ex-girlfriend.

The trio will journey across the country to literally find God.

The fact that Preacher has landed such a prestigious movie actor gives us hope for the series, which so far has only been picked up for a pilot.

Dominic Cooper reprised the role of Howard Stark in Marvel’s Agent Carter last year, and can next be seen in the romantic drama Miss You Already.
