In typical Sesame Street fashion, the long-running children’s show has taken on pop culture mecca Downton Abbey and created their own spoof entitled “Upside Downton Abbey.”

In the skit, Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham (played by Maggie Smith on the real show) tries to get her tea and food but is unable to enjoy them due to the fact that their world is upside-down. It is due to this inconvenient way of living that she asks Mr. Carson to be right side up, thus renaming her home “Rightside Upton Abbey.”

It’s worth noting that PBS, who airs Sesame Street, is also the broadcaster of Downton Abbey in the United States.

Downton has had a tumultuous week. In the most recent episode in the United States there was a surprising death. On Tuesday, series three was released on DVD/Blu-ray, affording stateside viewers the opportunity to watch the remainder of the season early. Earlier today we learned that Downton will be departing from Netflix this summer. Amazon Prime Instant Video will be the only place where you’ll be able to instantly stream the show.

Sesame Street is known to take on various pop culture shows and films to grab the attention of parents who watch the show with children. Celebrities also appear regularly to speak with Elmo, Big Bird, and the other lovable characters.
