The movie titled Serena that stars Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper was shot all the way back in 2012, and the first trailer has finally hit.

In the span of two years, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper shot three movies together. By now we’ve seen the two of them directed by David O. Russell (the multi-Oscar nominated Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle), but we’ve yet to see Susanne Bier’s Serena.

The last time we checked in on Serena almost a year ago it was seeking U.S. distribution, but as of this date there is still no U.S. release date to report. It will however premiere on October 24 in the U.K. (which this trailer is made for) and premieres will follow in other international markets in the months after.

Original delays of the movie getting released were do to Bier’s perfectionist attitude.

“There were no reshoots or anything like that,” one insider said. “It was just a real precision edit because the story is about a woman’s descent into madness. And Susanne is a total perfectionist.”

Like star Lawrence, Bier is an Oscar winner. Her film In a Better World won best foreign-language film in 2011. The fact that Lawrence won an Academy Award for best actress in between the shooting of Serena and the pitch for distribution must have left Bier ecstatic.

When will Serena gain U.S. distribution? That remains to be seen. If a U.K. premiere is successful, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a U.S. announcement quickly after. Lawrence and Cooper are clearly huge stars, and while studios might feel that the material is risky, if the movie performs in the U.K. it should perform in the U.S. as well.

The film’s synopsis: “North Carolina mountains at the end of the 1920s – George and Serena Pemberton, love-struck newly-weds, begin to build a timber empire. Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man: overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. However, once Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pembertons’ passionate marriage begins to unravel leading toward a dramatic reckoning.”
