Because of fans around the world, Sense8 is being brought back for a final special episode. Here’s your first look.

When season 2 of Sense8 ended with a cliffhanger that had us all on the edge of our seats, we were excited to see what would happen next. After the release on Netflix, however, months went by with no word on whether or not we would see a season 3.

On the first day of June, which is also Pride month and the beginning of pride celebrations all over the world, Netflix announced that the show was cancelled. Fans were outraged, they were disappointed and they were bewildered.

How could a show that means so much to millions of people be cancelled so swiftly? And who at Netflix thought it was a good idea to do it on the first day of the month where we were all celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community, a huge part of the show’s identity?

Then came Netflix’s confirmation that the show was over for good because they “couldn’t find a way to make it work.”

However, we called bullshit on that because we all know how much money Netflix makes.

In fact, they just recently raised their prices again. It was clear that this was a company that didn’t see the huge outpouring of support this show so clearly had, which goes to show how in-tune they are with the fandoms of the shows they create.

If you asked us then, Netflix just wanted to make shows for money (which we still partially believe) and not for the art, community or love of story-telling that its viewers have for the content they produce.

It was only after thousands of fans came together to voice their support and disappointment, after they garnered petition after petition to let Netflix know how important this show was, that Netflix bothered to give it a second chance.

Finally, Netflix caved and decided to bring back the show that we all loved so much. We just got our first glimpse of the finale special airing in 2018 and it is glorious. It showcases the worldwide fandom and the passion that lead to this revival and the cast and creator are so clearly aware of the sense of community this show has brought together.

We absolutely cannot wait for 2018 so we can get a proper ending to the show we love with all our heart, and we know it will be worth the wait!
