If you’re holding out till the official premiere, we have some great teaser material to keep you going.

The official synopsis for the episode has been released by ABC. It reads:

“Social Media superstar Eliza Dooley has 263,000 followers who hang on to her every post, tweet and selfie. But after a workplace mishap goes viral, she quickly realizes that being “instafamous” isn’t all it’s cracked up to be and being friended is not the same as having actual friends.”

So Eliza, who is played by Doctor Who star Karen Gillan, enlists her co-worker Henry (John Cho), described as a “marketing guru,” to essentially re-brand her. “Teaching her how to connect with people in the real world, whether she ‘likes’ it or not.”

The show is based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, previously adapted as My Fair Lady. Instead of teaching Eliza the ways of high society, Henry is here teaching her to be a decent human being. His snobbery is not towards her unrefined ways, but her obsession with social media.

Selfie stars Karen Gillan as Eliza, John Cho as Henry, Da’Vine Joy Randolph as Charmonique, Allyn Rachel as Bryn, and David Harewood as Sam. It is written and executively produced by Suburgatory‘s Emily Kapnek.
