Selena Gomez is heading back to the big screen, and this time she’ll be doing so as part of the cast of The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle.

Last year we told you that a new Dr. Dolittle film starring Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., was officially in the works. Now, we’re getting a bit more insight as to who will be sharing the silver screen alongside Downey Jr. when he stars as the doctor with an uncanny ability to talk to animals.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress and singer Selena Gomez has officially boarded Universal Pictures’ upcoming family comedy, The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle.

That being said, we won’t be seeing much of the 13 Reasons Why producer on screen. That’s because Gomez will be lending her voice to one of the animals Dr. Dolittle communicates with throughout the film.

Gomez isn’t the only big name set to voice one of Dolittle’s cute critters. Other Hollywood A-listers who’ve signed on to lend their vocals to the upcoming film include Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes, and Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland.

The film has also scored a few notable stars who’ll be featured in live-action roles, including Michael Sheen and Antonio Banderas.

’90s kids will undoubtedly remember growing up with the Dr. Dolittle films that starred comedian Eddie Murphy. As fun as those were, it sounds as though they’ll be sticking closer to the source material for The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle.

The film will be written and directed by Syriana helmer Stephen Gaghan, who has based his adaptation off the 1920s children’s books by Hugh Lofting.

The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle is set to hit theaters next spring on April 12, 2019.
