Selena Gomez could be slipping into the horror genre for her next starring role.

According to Variety, actress and pop star Selena Gomez is currently in talks to star in a new horror thriller coming down the pipeline at STXfilms.

Titled Dollhouse, the horror flick is being billed as a psychological thriller that is set in the elite fashion scene of New York City. Unfortunately, not much else is known with regards to the plot of the film, or about the character Gomez could be talking in it.

If she boards the project, Gomez will also serve as a producer on the horror film alongside Strange Things producers Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.

In a statement announcing Gomez’s involvement with the project, STXfilms chairman Adam Fogelson said the studio is incredibly excited over the prospect of bringing her on board for Dollhouse.

“Teaming Selena with Shawn and Dan’s expertise in the horror-thriller genre will elevate Dollhouse and we couldn’t be more thrilled by the way this is being development.”

Still up in the air for now is who will serve as director on the project, which features a script from newcomer Michael Paisley. Although, perhaps with Gomez’s involvement, it won’t be long before the studio finds itself someone to helm the film.

As for Selena Gomez, the star has been keeping fairly busy as of late.

In addition to launching her own cooking show via HBO Max (which just got renewed for a second season), the actress is also gearing up to make a splash over at Hulu where she’ll be starring opposite Steve Martin and Martin Short in Only Murders in the Building.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Dollhouse debut in theaters.
