A new See featurette explores the story behind Apple TV+’s series starring Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard. Check out our exclusive sneak peek.

After watching the first three episodes of Apple TV+’s See, it’s safe to say I became almost immediately invested in this series. If you enjoyed shows like Into the Badlands, Frontier, and even The Shannara Chronicles, then there’s a lot to love here.

Episodes 4 and beyond have only gotten better, and it’s clear that while this show took a minute to establish the world, that work has paid off. Now, we care about the characters and understand why two children with sight pose such a threat to this post-apocalyptic society.

A new featurette from Apple TV+ speaks to this. It both explores the world of See and explains why the ability to see is considered to be witchcraft.

Here’s our exclusive sneak peek:

While most of the information in the featurette isn’t new, it does raise some interesting questions. Executive Producer Dan Shotz talks about the different tribes, including the plastic tribe, the metal tribe, and the rope tribe. The Alkenny, which Jason Momoa’s Baba Voss belongs to, is the rope tribe, as we see in nearly every aspect of the village.

While I knew other groups of people existed, it’s interesting to explore the idea of different tribes who specialize in different materials. The Alkenny use rope as a way to move around quickly and confidently, despite not being able to see. It makes sense that other tribes would adapt differently.

Beyond that, Director and Executive Producer Francis Lawrence also talks about Queen Kane, who is in charge of the Payan Nation, which the Alkenny is a part of. This implies there are other nations beyond the borders we’ve already seen.

Will we ever explore those areas? How have those people chosen to adapt? Could there be more people out there with the ability to see?

Hopefully, these questions and more will be answered (or at least hinted to!) in upcoming episodes. See season 1, episode 6, “Silk,” premieres Friday, November 22 at 12:00 a.m. on Apple TV+. The official synopsis reads:

“Baba and family get betrayed and trapped in a mine. Queen Kane uses her cunning to face a new conflict.”

“See” takes place in the distant future, after a deadly virus decimated humankind. Those who survived emerged blind. Jason Momoa stars as Baba Voss — the father of twins born centuries later with the mythic ability to see — who must protect his tribe against a powerful yet desperate queen who wants the twins destroyed. Alfre Woodard stars as Paris, Baba Voss’s spiritual leader. The series features cast and crew who are blind or have low vision, who helped bring this inclusive and authentic world to life.
