Lara Croft is a well-known badass, and in the latest trailer for Tomb Raider, we get a new glimpse at her as a fighter and survivor.

We are getting so close to Lara Croft’s triumphant return to the big screen, and to get us pumped, we’ve got a brand new trailer for the new Tomb Raider movie. And what’s even better, the trailer has a healthy dose of a certain Destiny’s Child classic to really get you in the mood for some Lara Croft ass-kicking.

This trailer gives us a great taste of Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) and her life outside of her penchant for dungeon/tomb crawling (or raiding, I suppose). We also see the events that led her to search for her missing father. We so often focus only on Lara Croft once she leaves for her adventures, so it’s cool to get a taste of her backstory first.

We also are introduced to the enigmatic organization known as Trinity that Croft believes is responsible for her father’s disappearance. And, while searching for her father, Lara runs into Mathias Vogel (Walton Goggins), a rival archaeologist interested in exploiting Lara’s skills for his own gain. Lara must fight against huge odds to survive and learn the truth about what happened to her father.

And while it’s awesome to see Lara kicking ass to the intense remix of “Survivor” in the background, one of the most fun parts of the trailer is seeing those action sequences that so expertly hearken back to the video game. It’s always tricky to make a video game movie that feels familiar without drifting into the land of kitschy gimmicks–it’s so hard, in fact, that a lot of video game movies fail at the box office. However, this trailer gives us a lot of hope that the new Tomb Raider film can pay homage to its source material and also be a genuinely great movie.

Tomb Raider arrives in theaters soon–March 16. Be sure to get your tickets to experience the adventure yourself!
