The second Detective Pikachu trailer explores more of Tim and Pikachu’s adventures as they meet the Pokémon of Ryme City.

As if the first trailer didn’t have enough Pokémon, today’s trailer reveals even more pocket monsters making their “live-action” debut, including Ludicolo the bartender, an angry Aipom, and a towering Golurk. A Machamp guides traffic as a fuzzy Snorlax sleeps, followed by a group of Loudred that helps a DJ in a performance of Bonnie Tyler’s “I Need A Hero.”

In the battle arena, we see a Blastoise withdraw into its shell to shoot out a water gun attack at a group of Ghastly, Haunter, and Gengar. Cubone leaps energetically out of a Poké Ball, and a Flareon materializes in front of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina statues.

The Creation Trio aren’t the only Legendary Pokémon to make their debut in the second Detective Pikachu trailer, as the genetically cloned Psychic-type Mewtwo bursts onto the scene of a giant Pikachu balloon.

Story-wise, we learn that Detective Pikachu woke up with amnesia, and inside his hat was Tim’s dad’s contact information. Detective Pikachu is convinced that Harry is still alive, with a shot of Tim’s father crawling from the burning wreckage of a car potentially confirming the tiny Detective’s hunch.

Mr. Mime’s miming gags made a return in the second Detective Pikachu trailer, as the Psychic-type tries to run and bike away from Tim and Detective Pikachu before it can be questioned. Mr. Mime seems like he knows something of great importance to solving the mystery of Tim’s father’s disappearance, but as to what the mime knows has yet to be revealed.

The trailer ends as Detective Pikachu zaps by at lightning speed, showing that this scaredy cat may just have some gusto.

Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10, 2019, and the film is looking hilarious. Check out a new promotional poster for Detective Pikachu below.
