The first season of HBO’s Girls is known for both its hilarious dialogue and catchy music. Now, all the tunes from season 1 have been compiled onto Girls – Volume 1: Music From the HBO Original Series.

The soundtrack to Girls‘ first season is loaded with big names in the indie music scene, including Sleigh Bells, Belle & Sebastian, Fleet Foxes, Robyn, Icona Pop and The Vaccines.

In addition, exclusive new music will be featured from bigger artists like Santigold, fun. and Michael Penn. The disc’s deluxe edition will include four extra songs, with a new song by singer-songwriter duo Tegan and Sara.

Santigold’s “Girls” is the lead single for the soundtrack and is streaming right now. For those that decide to pre-order the soundtrack, an instant download of the track will be available. In the meantime, take a listen below!

Creator and star of Girls, Lena Dunham, paired with music supervisors Manish Raval and Tom Wolfe and soundtrack producer Kevin Weaver to create the collection of songs featured on the soundtrack.

For Dunham, the songs were inspired by her own personal playlists that she’s created on her way to the show’s set in the mornings. According to her, each song is picked out especially for each character.

“I experiment in editing with songs that the characters would love and that accurately reflect their struggles,” Dunham said.

The soundtrack is being put out by record label Fueled By Ramen, the same label that Lena Dunham’s beau, Jack Antonoff, is signed to as the guitarist for fun.

Girls – Volume 1 is available for pre-order today on iTunes, the HBO shop and Fueled By Ramen’s store. It will be available for physical purchase on January 8, just in time for the Girls season 2 premiere on January 13. Sounds like the perfect gift for the music-and-Girls-loving person in your life!
