The Sea of Monsters marketing campaign is really ramping up their game, and today they’ve released a great poster of Percy Jackson, star of the film.

Logan Lerman will reprise his role as Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, in the Lightning Thief sequel Sea of Monsters.

The poster offers a simplistic but beautiful portrait of Lerman in profile, with blue text and the symbol of his father over the top of his face.

We think fans will be much happier with this poster than the previous poster, which featured both Percy and Annabeth. It seemed as though our readers didn’t find either character’s part of the poster too appealing.

Overall, fans seem to be excited for the sequel to Lightning Thief, which was the first movie in the Percy Jackson franchise and didn’t go over too well with fans of Rick Riordan’s novels. However, it made enough money at the box office to warrant a second movie, and creators of Sea of Monsters have promised fans this adaptation will be much more loyal to the book.

Just from the trailer alone, we feel as though this movie is already living up to that promise. Certain events always get changed when taken from the written word to the moving picture, but it seems as though director Thor Freudenthal is doing his best to right the wrongs of the first movie.

Early reviewers of Sea of Monsters, who were able to see the first 30 minutes, have been praising the movie for the great acting, the action, and the quality of the story — which will be directed at both book fans and newcomers to the franchise.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters opens in theaters August 7, 2013. It stars Logan Lerman as Percy, Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth, Brandon T. Jackson as Grover, and Jake Abel as Luke. Nathan Fillion (Hermes), Stanley Tucci (Dionysus), Leven Rambin (Clarisse), and Douglas Smith (Tyson) also star.

Thanks, Hollywood Crush/MTV.
