Some lucky people got to see an early look at the beginning of Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, and have said the film will pack an extra punch fans will enjoy.

Collider was given an early look at the first act of Sea of Monsters and has given the film a positive review thusfar.

Fans of the book series by Rick Riordan are understandably hesitant about this sequel, given that the first movie was a disappointment to the majority of the fanbase. However, the creative team behind Sea of Monsters has promised a more loyal adaptation, and this early review has indicated this is the case.

Collider says that while the movie does not forget about the book fans, it also does a great job of setting up the story for those who may be less familiar. That means Sea of Monsters will be great for the whole family, whether or not everyone has read the books.

The review also indicates that the newcomers — Nathan Fillion (Hermes), Stanley Tucci (Dionysus), Anthony Stewart Head (Chiron), and Leven Rambin (Clarisse) — add to the film, especially given the heavy hitting power actors like Fillion, Tucci, and Head have. Fans are sure to soak up the presence of these actors, due to the fact they’ve played fan favorite characters in multiple movies and shows, such as Firefly, The Hunger Games, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Make sure you head on over to Collider and read the entirety of their thoughts on what they’ve see of Sea of Monsters so far.
