In another new Sea of Monsters clip, we get to see Annabeth and Grover trying to convince Dionysus to let them go on a quest for the Golden Fleece.

The clip comes via MTV:

Camp Half-Blood is under attack and Thalia’s tree is dying. If the tree dies, the camp will no longer be protected, and all of its inhabitants will be in danger. The monsters will be able to find them, and the campers won’t have a safe place to hide.

But not if Annabeth has anything to do with it.

In the clip we see her approaching Mr. D, asking if she can have a quest to go after the Golden Fleece. She feels certain that if they can find the Fleece, they can save Thalia’s tree and the camp.

But Mr. D wants none of that, unfortunately. “You want to go on a quest? It must be Thursday!” he says. While Grover seems hesitant about the plan, Annabeth will do anything to get Dionysus to listen to her. But it’s too dangerous, and he won’t allow the quest.

In the video, we get a taste of the humor that Mr. D was known for in the books. Stanley Tucci brings him to life, mourning over the fact that he can’t drink the wine in his hand (“It was such a good year.”) or calling Grover and Annabeth by the wrong names (“I’m sorry, Annabelle.” “Annabeth.” “Whatever.”)

Yesterday, we got a clip of our heroes meeting the Gray Sisters and their Chariot of Damnation for the first time.

Sea of Monsters opens up on August 7, starring Logan Lerman (Percy), Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth), Brandon T. Jackson (Grover), Jake Abel (Luke), Leven Rambin (Clarisse), and Douglas Smith (Tyson). Stanley Tucci will play Dionysus, Nathan Fillion will play Hermes, and Anthony Stewart Head will replace Pierce Brosnan as Chiron.
