Heading into it’s seventh season as the CW’s flagship DC universe show on a network that now offers a daily superhero lineup, the Greg Berlanti-helmed Arrow stopped by Ballroom 20 on Saturday with its legendary cast in tow to reveal what we can expect to see this upcoming fall now that the lines between the Arrow and Oliver have finally blurred into each other.

Season 6 Recap

Last we saw Team Arrow in season 6, Oliver and Felicity finally sealed the deal on their love by getting married in a major superhero crossover event. (And yes, they did sort of steal Iris West-Allen’s bridal thunder…) The joy was unfortunately short-lived, though, as Oliver found himself impeached as mayor, with Quentin taking over as the new mayor of Star City.

Oliver stood trial for the Arrow’s crimes, but after Diaz nearly secured his guilty verdict, Tommy Merlin miraculously came back in a surprise move to save the day by revealing that he wasn’t dead, and was in fact the real Green Arrow.

The reprieve didn’t last, though, as Diaz personally goes after everyone Oliver loves, and in an effort to protect his people and his city, Oliver is forced to admit to Agent Watson that he really is the Green Arrow after all.

In a tragic twist, Quentin dies during surgery after taking a bullet for Laurel (the Earth-2 version of his daughter), and Oliver hands himself over to the FBI in order to give his team immunity. Agent Watson arrests Oliver but promises him that the FBI will continue to track down Diaz in Star City, and Oliver finally comes clean to the public, admiting to the city that he is and always has been the Green Arrow while urging Star City’s citizens to continue to fight to save their city.

The final moments of the season finale left us wondering what a world where the Green Arrow no longer hides in the shadows looks like as Oliver walks into prison with every inmate knowing who he truly is.

‘Arrow’ Comic-Con Live Blog!

***Refresh the page for live updates on Saturday’s Comic-Con panel!***

4:13 PST Supergirl’s panel just ended! Everyone was so lovely to the audience members who asked questions. It’s so obvious that the cast and crew are very aware of the impact their show is making on young people. And the little Supergirls who cosplayed were the cutest! All right, Arrow will be up soon!

4:24 PST They’re showing us a reel of new scenes from season 7! The season starts off with the Arrow in prison. According to Diggle, he’s been there for five months, and he’s been trying to avoid not fighting back but… that’s not really in his nature. He has a photo of Felicity in his cell, of course. **tears** Star City still has a zero tolerance policy for vigilantes.

4:26 PST EP Beth Schwartz is here! The show’s new EP!

4:27 PST The cast is finally here! Rick Gonzalez, David Ramsay, Emily Beth Rickards, and Colton Haynes are back!

4:28 PST Beth Schwartz has been here since season 1, but as showrunner she’s definitely going to put a new spin on it.

4:29 PST Colton says that having this new female energy and having more female directors and producers has been so great to rejuvinate the show.

4:30 PST According to Stephen, Oliver is in prison with a bunch of people that he put in prison so… things aren’t great.

4:31 PST Just like Oliver is tired of watching his back, Felicity is tired of watching hers so she’s going to be taking some action.

4:32 EST The crux of this season is going to be seeing how Rene interprets Oliver’s directive to his team. We’ll see if Rene finds his way with the mask or without it.

4:33 PST Roy Harper is back in Star City! Last we saw him he was off hunting Lazarus Pits. The good thing is that Roy is coming back and he’s not the same person. Colton says that Beth is a genius and wrote a version of the character that is so special. It’s a version that Colton says will be hard to do, but he’s happy to do it.

4:35 PST The Alambo Hunters will be back this season working with Diaz. Red Dart, Kodeak, and the Silencer will all be back.

4:36 PST Batwoman will be coming to the Arrowverse, but they’re still working on the first half of the season and she doesn’t show up just yet.

4:37 PST The coolest thing about the premiere and what’s happening to Oliver in the beginning of the season for Stephen is that there’s nothing heroic about Oliver at all. He hopes that if you love the character and watch the premiere that he will really piss you off. He will be regressing in prison.

4:38 PST Questions from the audience!

4:39 PST The little girl from last year who Stephen gave his bracelet to is back! She’s giving Stephen back his necklace!

4:39 PST Wow! Stephen just gave her a bow and arrow from set to exchange with him! So cute! She just stole the show.

4:41 PST Stephen Amell has a winery in Wala Wala, Washington. Cool.

4:42 PST Oliver puts ketchup on his mac and cheese. That’s… kind of gross. But according to Emily, Canadians put ketchup on everything.

4:43 PST Felicity and Diggle’s friendship ship name is Feliggle. According to Emily: “It is not unlike a Harry Potter magic spell. They’re both a part of Hufflepuff, clearly.”

4:45 PST Stephen loves practicing archery outside of the show. Emily suggested that they do it on set in between takes and have some danger-fun on the way to catering.

4:46 PST Everyone is clapping for Olicity now!

4:47 PST An adorable little girl just asked if Speedy will be back on the show. According to Beth, right now there are no plans.

4:49 PST William’s arc is the most interesting arc of any character on the show in the beginning of the season according to Stephen.

4:50 PST Beth was the writer’s assistant in season 1 of the show! And now she’s the boss.

4:51 PST She’s staying true to the original characters but she’s putting her own spin on it. It’s a challenge to create new stories for these characters they love, but she loves it.

4:52 PST Rene’s journey has always been about redemption. Now that he has Zoey in his life it brings a nice juxtaposition between him being a father and being a vigilante.

4:54 PST Oliver’s at his best when he’s a dad according to Stephen.

4:55 PST Is there any chance we’ll see Malcolm Merlin again considering how the multiverse works? Beth says you never know…

4:56 PST Stephen says he had a good experience on American Ninja Warrior but no, he will not be doing it again. He says he only made it through the course because he was terrified of looking stupid.

4:56 PST Beth says no babies for Oliver and Felicity this year.

4:57 PST And that’s a wrap! Arrow will be back on Monday nights in October!
