Dr. Elliot Reid is headed to Seattle Grace.

Sort of. Actress Sarah Chalke, known for her role as Elliot Reid on the long-running medical comedy Scrubs, is returning to medicine by joining Grey’s Anatomy for one episode this spring, according to TVLine.

It’s unknown if her role will be that of patient or doctor, but as TVLine pointed out, such a short arc points to a stint as a patient. Still, we’re excited to see Chalke back in a hospital. If only Zach Braff and Donald Faison could join her for a comedic episode of Grey’s.

Scrubs premiered on NBC in 2001 but was picked up by ABC for its final season in 2009. Since her Scrubs days, Chalke has had roles in How I Met Your Mother and Cougar Town. She’ll return to TV in April starring in ABC’s midseason replacement How to Live With Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life) – a sitcom that follows an uptight divorced mother when she is forced to move back in with her parents.

Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on ABC. Episode 9×13 “Bad Blood,” which will see Seattle Grace doctors continue to look for a solution to the hospital’s money problems since losing the lawsuit, premieres next Thursday, Jan. 31. Check out stills and watch the promo below.
