After finishing his run on Teen Wolf this week, Tyler Posey already has another role for MTV in the works — this time as a bad boy on Scream.

On Sunday, September 24, Teen Wolf came to a close and Posey finished up his time as Scott McCall (at least for now). Luckily, he’s already got another project in the pipeline, and unlike his upcoming role on Jane the Virgin, this one will keep him at MTV.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Posey (previously reported incorrectly as Tyler Hoechlin) has joined Scream as a series regular.

His character description reads, “Shane, [is] a high school dropout. The character is described as a drug dealer and party promoter who is always hustling in order to make money. But beneath that exterior, there’s more to Shane than anyone realizes.”

This is quite a departure from Scott McCall, who was arguably the purest character on Teen Wolf — he was a True Alpha, after all. But Posey’s acting chops are not in question, and it’ll be nice to see him take on such a different role than we’ve seen him in for the last six years or so.

We recently talked about everything you can expect from Scream season 3, though this is honestly quite a surprise — but a delightful one, to be sure.

Season 3 of the horror series is hitting the reboot button. It’s starting over with a new cast and a new killer, and this time he’s putting on the original Ghostface mask. Posey joins RJ Cyler, Jessica Sula, Keke Palmer, Giorgia Whigham, Tyga, C.J. Wallace, and Giullian Yao Gioiello as regulars.
