Stars from Awkward, Teen Wolf, Faking It, Finding Carter, The Challenge, and Ridiculousness threw a killer party for the Scream cast.

That’s right. MTV just killed off all its major shows just to make way for its freshman drama Scream!

Well, kind of…

Rather than believe MTV is making some prophetic statement about the state of their network or what they’re willing to do to make their newest show succeed, we’re going to assume this is more of an extremely ironic take on what a welcome party would look like for the cast of a horror show.

Before you watch the video though, heads up everyone, the images are pretty graphic. You should be fine as long as you have a good sense of humor, a strong stomach, and a grasp on the fact that this is all completely make-believe!

Pretty fun right? If you’re into that whole carnage-as-a-big-joke sort of thing. And MTV has kind of been tackling this head on since its first promo was released.

In a very meta teaser for the freshman TV series, the network spoke directly to the audience and essentially called them out for their obsession with the horror genre and loving to watch their favorite characters die.

Not necessarily untrue, but an interesting tactic to say the least.

Maybe this wit and bite has something to do with the quite judgy vibes MTV has gotten for trying to reinvent such a well-worn franchise like Scream. The naysayers are many and fans of the classic movies are already up in arms. But this isn’t MTV’s first rodeo, and they’ve successfully rebooted shows before.

They even seem willing to poke fun at the skepticism within the show itself.

“You can’t do a slasher movie as a TV series. Slasher movies burn bright and fast. By the time the first body is found, it’s only a matter of time before the bloodbath commences.”

Honestly, if this is a sign of what’s to come, it’s a really enticing pull. We live in an age where tweens and teens are pretty self aware. It’s better to be spoken to with snark and awareness than blatantly pandered to. And today’s MTV audience is probably going to really appreciate that.

Scream debuts on Tuesday, June 30 at 10 p.m. EST on MTV.

What do you think of the killer party for MTV’s ‘Scream’?
