Dylan O’Brien earns the title of king of stunts on the set of The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

In continued Maze Runner form, Dylan O’Brien shares that running is one of the biggest challenges he’s had to face stunt wise while on the set of The Scorch Trials.

“It’s running everywhere,” the actor shares. “It’s running away from things. Up sand dunes,” but apparently that’s par for the course and O’Brien is content with the struggle, “All that is a part of it. It’s just fun. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The humility in O’Brien one must run deep, because his fellow actors brag on O’Brien’s ability to lead the pack. “Dylan is a freak athlete. I don’t know if people know that, but he’s really really fast and really really talented at baseball,” co-star Dexter Darden says.

Kaya Scodelario shared similar sentiments, “They kind of push me to do it [run]. I look at Dylan and Ki Hong and I think if they can do it I can do it too!”

Although we don’t get to hear his thoughts on the matter, newcomer Jacob Lofland is also seen in the interview. We note the moment simply because this is one of the first times we’ve seen the young actor up close while on set. Wes Ball had this to say in a recent interview with EW about the casting process for his character Aris, “In the book he was a contemporary of Thomas, very much that version of him in the other maze.”

Ball goes on to say, “But I just felt I didn’t need another handsome, strapping man to compete with Thomas. I wanted someone who would be a little more of a little brother to him. So I changed it slightly.” It definitely helps give fans some more insight into the change that occurred from book to screen. And hopefully this new direction is something they take to.
